Harvest Pumpkin Hummus

Making your own hummus allows you to control the fat and sodium that goes into it. It’s super easy and festive in the fall and winter! Combining these flavors is unique and the pumpkin gives your taste buds a bit of sweetness to curb ANY craving!

*Modified version from Sept 2014 Alive Magazine*

– 1 can chick peas (drained and rinsed)

– 2 garlic cloves

– 3 tablespoons sesame seeds

– Just over 1/2 cup pumpkin puree

– 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

– 2 tbsp maple syrup

– 4 tbsp olive oil

– 1/2 tsp salt (I used pink salt)

– 1/2 tsp cinnamon

– Pinch nutmeg

Put all ingredients in blender or food processor and mix until completely pureed. If it’s too thick, add a bit of water.

Store in fridge for a day or 2 and the flavours will come alive!
